The AJ-PX230 is a P2HD handheld camcorder with AVC-ULTRA recording and built-in microP2 card slots. In addition to the established AVC-Intra100 codec, the AJ-PX230 integrates AVC-LongG for extended recording and the optional AVC-Intra200 codec for master recording with a wide range of options. This handheld camcorder integrates dual microP2 card slots with simultaneous recording functionality and a specially designed compact multi-purpose zoom lens.

The AJ-PX230 covers both high and low bit rate recording thanks to built-in support for the AVC-ULTRA codec family. The AVC-LongG25 codec enables extended broadcast quality recording of 1920 x 1080, 10-bit, 4:2:2 (four times that of AVC-Intra100). The AJ-PX270 also supports DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO50 as standard for SD recording as well as DVCPRO HD, AVC-Intra 50, AVC-Intra 100, along with the new AVC-LongG12, G25 and G50 compression methods as standard for HD recording. For even higher quality recordings, the AJ-PX230 supports the visually lossless AVC-Intra 200 codec as an option for a compact, master-quality all-in-one handheld camera.

Superior image quality: high-sensitivity and high-quality sensor

Additional camcorder features include a newly designed, compact built-in 22x zoom lens, covering a wide range of focal lengths from 28mm to 616mm (35mm camera equivalent). Three lens rings for camera-type zoom, focus and iris modes provide manual control similar to interchangeable lenses. New low-noise, high-sensitivity 1/3″ 3MOS sensors produce superior image quality, even in low-light conditions.

Super-economic operation

Two microP2 card slots enable cost-effective use. With the same reliability as P2 cards, microP2 cards can be used without an adapter for continuous recording – when one card is full, the AJ-PX230 dynamically selects the second to continue recording – or for simultaneous recording, when the same codec is recorded to both cards at once to create a backup. The microP2 card slots can be used with standard SD cards to further increase efficiency when recording*3 codecs at 50Mbps or less.

Professional results for flexible filming

The AJ-PX230 integrates all the audiovisual connections you would expect from a professional camera, including SD/HD/3G-SDI and HDMI outputs. The AJ-PX230 integrates two three-connector XLR audio inputs; one on the front, behind the microphone, for easy connection to an external microphone, and one on the rear of the camera.

New ergonomic, compact and intuitive design

The ergonomic design of the AJ-PX230 keeps common video and audio connections on the side of the camera, so they don’t get in the way when connecting a lot of cables. In terms of control layout, the lightweight and well-balanced AJ-PX230 draws on many of the features of professional shoulder cameras. White balance and video gain toggle switches are easily located under the lens, and an audio fader control and a record start/stop control are included on the front of the camera.
