The Omnidirectional DPA 4066 headband microphone offers clean, transparent sound quality with plenty of headroom. For years this has been the headset microphone of choice for broadcasters and theaters on Broadway and London’s West End. This is due to its impeccable sound and durability.
The construction of the headset is unique. You can detach the microphone boom from the headset mount to switch it to the left or right side and then reattach it. Moisture, often a problem in theatrical applications, is not a problem. This microphone is built with a dual-vent protection system and a drop stop on the microphone boom. Also, the materials inside the microphone are waterproof. These design elements make it very difficult for the microphone to fail due to moisture. In addition, the surface of the earpiece is plated with matte gold, and the ear hooks are covered with a silicone hose.
The sensitivity of the microphone is 6 mV / Pa. This matches the human voice level to the general input sensitivity of most wireless transmitters. If powered correctly, the microphone will be able to handle sound pressure levels up to 144 dB SPL before clipping occurs.
