Excellent images, even in difficult lighting conditions
All lenses have an anti-reflective coating from ZEISS. The extraordinary reduction of side light is possible thanks to a series of perfectly combined measures. In addition to the ZEISS T* coating, a special all-black lacquer is applied to all lens edges using a complex manual process. Light traps have been integrated into the mechanical components and specific surfaces have been designed to avoid reflections. Each focal length has its own optical design using special types of glass that exhibit abnormal partial dispersion. In this way, the occurrence of chromatic fringes at the edges of high-contrast objects is reduced to an absolute minimum.
The solution of the future for high-resolution camera systems
The excellent imaging performance of ZEISS Milvus lenses is particularly focused on the requirements of high-performance digital cameras of today and tomorrow. Thanks to the low level of lateral light that the design of the objectives allows, it is possible to achieve high contrast images by increasing the highly dynamic range of the sensors (RAD). Minimization of coma, astigmatism, and spherical aberrations allows for consistently high resolution across the entire image field. The optics have been designed to ensure maximum use of the performance of high-resolution camera systems. Whatever the future holds – with Milvus lenses from ZEISS you are fully equipped anywhere and anytime.
Creative still and video photography through precise manual focus
Focusing on subjects manually means controlling and therefore actively composing an image with precision and care with your fingertips. In this sense, a good ergonomic design makes the difference. ZEISS Milvus objectives offer a wide angle of rotation that enables pinpoint focus. The premium focus mechanism glides smoothly without reaction, helping to optimize the photographer’s creative interaction with the focal plane of high-speed fixed focal lengths. Changes can be seen immediately on the viewfinder or screen. Engraving in meters and feet, as well as the focus scale, provide an additional complement to manual focus. The continuous and silent diaphragm adjustment (de-click function with ZF.2 support) and the long focusing range make up the optimal conditions for video photography.
Stable image performance throughout the entire focus range
State-of-the-art camera systems and high-resolution digital image sensors demand ever-increasing performance from lenses. Floating Element Design provides consistently high imaging performance at the focal plane; from the minimum object distance to infinity. This is possible thanks to the changing axial distance between the different elements of the objectives or groups of elements. The spacing adjustment is coupled with the distance adjustment in such a way that it always results in the proper correction. The mechanical design of ZEISS Milvus lenses is highly complex and the workforce has to operate with extreme precision – Two ZEISS specialties.
