Canon’s EF 2X III Extender is designed for certain Canon EF-mounted L-series telephoto lenses. Increases the focal length of a lens by a factor of 2x while offering excellent image quality. To ensure the best possible image quality in all shooting conditions, it combines redesigned optics, improved data communication between the lens and the camera, and improved environmental protection. It is ideal for photojournalists and wildlife, nature and sports photographers who need to get up close to distant and challenging subjects and reduces the need to carry heavy telephoto lenses.
The Extender EF 2x III has nine optical elements in five groups, ensuring improved optical performance. All optics have Canon’s Super Spectra coating to reduce ghosting and glare. A new fluorine coating on the front and rear elements makes marks, such as water stains or fingerprints, much easier to clean than standard coatings.
To facilitate the precise transfer of image data between the lens and the camera body, the extender features a built-in processor that ensures that all focus, metering, and identification information is available, allowing the photographer to capture balanced images and well exposed. When combined with Canon’s latest range of premium L-series lenses, these extenders enable precision AF even when capturing moving subjects. When connected, the 2x extender reduces the maximum effective aperture by 2 stops.
A carefully placed lens release mechanism also facilitates quick mounting of the extenders, reducing the time the camera and lens are exposed to the environment. The extenders offer the exceptional build quality expected from Canon professional products, and are dust and water resistant, allowing photographers to use them in extreme shooting conditions.
