The Sony PXW-Z90V 4K HDR XDCAM camcorder offers phase detection (AF) autofocus and HDR capabilities in a compact, palm-style body. The PXW-Z90V camcorder, suitable for corporate events, news broadcasting and television production, features a stacked 1 “Exmor RS CMOS sensor with 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160), a 12x Zeiss optical zoom, an OLED viewfinder and a 3.5 “LCD monitor touch screen. You can record 4K on XAVC Long at 4: 2: 0, HD on XAVC Long at 4: 2: 2 10-bit, as well as MPEG HD at 4: 2: 2 (optional license key required). The S-Log3 / S-Gamut3 functions offer users additional image control.

The fast hybrid AF of the PXW-Z90V uses a high-density location of autofocus points and a newly developed AF algorithm to offer high-precision focus and tracking, a great advantage when shooting UHD 4K, especially for individual operators . In movie recording mode, use the appearance of phase detection AF frames to monitor the subject’s focus. The 3.5 “touch screen of the PXW-Z90V is used to quickly change the focus between subjects. The AF scroll speed, tracking depth range and subject shift sensitivity can be set to suit different subjects and styles of content.

Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) allows you to prepare your production for the future by seamlessly integrating your 4K recordings into an HDR workflow without the need for color grading during postproduction. Capture images with high quality contrast and resolution using the 12x Zeiss optical zoom of the PXW-Z90V and the 18x 4K digital zoom (24x in HD). An integrated ND filter function allows for greater exposure and control of depth of field.

The PXW-Z90V camera supports Sony’s slow and fast motion to record HD video at variable frame rates, including 120 fps. When recording in a variety of formats, frame rates and codecs, the camcorder supports XAVC 100 Mb / s. Long recording of 4K UHD video up to 29.97p, and 50 Mb / s HD capture up to 59.94p. The recording is recorded in two slots for SD memory cards, either simultaneously on both cards or in relay mode to create a backup. The 3G-SDI output of the PXW-Z90V offers integration with professional studio environments.

Additional features include built-in 2.4 / 5 GHz for multiple transmission and FTP options. The PXW-Z90V provides support for an external microphone through two 3-pin XLR audio inputs (line, microphone, microphone + 48V phantom) and a 3.5mm mini input. You can also use the PXW-Z90V’s built-in microphone to record audio when shooting. For multi-camera productions, the PXW-Z90V integrates seamlessly with the Sony MCX-500 live switch (available separately).
