Light, modular and robust

Despite its great lightness (0.89 kg) the magnesium alloy of the FX6 is more than resistant to withstand the vicissitudes of the real world. Plus, the removable and adjustable one-button smart grip puts key functions at your fingertips.

Mobility to shoot in seconds

The smart handle, ideal for shooting from low angles, is part of the modular design of the FX6. It is easy to reconfigure for any application, such as mounting to gimbals, drones, or underwater housings.

Magnesium body and frame for strength and lightness

To perform in harsh environments, the main body, covers, and top handle are made from a lightweight magnesium alloy that has been tested in a production environment. The main frame combines robustness, resistance, lightness and mobility.

Overheat shutdown design

The custom design of the cooling system and chassis help prevent shutdown due to overheating when working with high frame rates and 4K (QFHD) resolutions. The number of heatsinks, the shape of the ventilation outlets and the location of the silent fan have been precisely calculated to guarantee optimal ventilation.

10-bit 4:2:2 recording

Record directly to the camera with the astonishing detail of 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling, for vastly superior flexibility in grading, post-processing, and image composition.

All-Intra coding available

In addition to Long GOP, internal All-Intra encoding is now included, which encodes each frame at bit rates up to 600 Mbps, to capture complex motion more accurately and enable more efficient editing.

16-bit RAW SDI output

For demanding post-production tasks, 16-bit RAW output is provided with SDI connection to compatible external recorders, while XAVC files are captured in-camera. RAW video output consists of 4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160 sensor data at frame rates of 120, 100, 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25, 24, or 23.98.

Capture modes for creative workflows

The FX6 includes capture modes with preset looks, such as S-Cinetone, which creates stunning images right in the camera, or S-Log3 / S-Gamut3 with Cine-EI mode, which captures perfectly exposed images to speed up post-production.

Scene file for quick change on site

4 scene file types for SDR capture (S-Cinetone, Standard, Photo, and ITU709) and 2 for HDR capture (HLG Live, HLG Natural), plus 16 user-imported 3D LUT slots to apply your look favorite without post production.

Amazing smart handle and grip

Sony’s ergonomic smart handle and grip adjust with a single button, and with zoom and record controls, assignable control buttons, and an iris dial, they allow you to work comfortably for hours.

Professional connectivity

Some professional interfaces are available, including 12G-SDI outputs and HDMI outputs, a remote interface, connectors for multi-camera synchronization and 5 Gbps USB SuperSpeed ​​(USB 3.2) for faster workflows.

Multiple Interface (MI) Shoe

Sony’s Multi Interface (MI) Shoe integrates power, signal, and switching connections for compatible Sony accessories, including wireless microphone systems such as the UWP-D21 or UWP-D22.

Support 4-channel audio input and recording

The 4-channel audio input allows you to use external microphones and the built-in one simultaneously. It also supports UWP wireless microphones or XLR audio adapters like the XLD-K3M

Two XLR inputs and enhanced audio capability

The FX6’s handle features two separate audio inputs, easy-access XLR connectors for external professional microphones. UWP wireless microphones can also be connected via the multi interface shoe.

Flexible 2.76 million-dot HD LCD panel

The 3.5″ LCD screen facilitates precise manual focus in difficult conditions. Flexible positioning of mounting locations and angles allows for comfortable shooting in different setups.

Quick menu control with touch operation

The LCD display has a quick access control menu. With a single touch you can change codecs, image scan mode, frame size and frame rate, base ISO/sensitivity, capture mode and audio levels.

Two media slots for CFexpress type A

Both media slots accept Type A CFexpress cards as well as conventional SDXC UHS-I and UHS-II cards for faster buffer flushing and data management, and support simultaneous, interval and proxy recording modes.
