The AJ-PX5000G is the first P2 HD camcorder with native AVC-ULTRA recording and microP2 card slots. This 2.2 million pixel 2/3 type 3 MOS sensor camcorder combines excellent image quality with very light weight. The AJ-PX5000G records in 720p and 1080i format, and for the first time in the P2HD range, also in 1080/50p.

With its wide range of recording options, exceptional image quality and great expandability, the PX5000G camcorder is aimed at both the news, documentary, sporting events and corporate video production, as well as the rental market.

The AJ-PX5000G’s three 2.2-megapixel MOS sensors offer 1,000-line horizontal resolution, F13 sensitivity at 50i, and 60dB signal-to-noise ratio. This shoulder-mounted camcorder allows you to use a variety of 2/3-type interchangeable lenses. As standard, the PX5000 can record in AVC-LongG and AVC-Intra100/50, in addition to the traditional formats DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO50, DVCPRO and DV. Allows you to switch between 50Hz and 59.94Hz for worldwide use.

  • 3 state-of-the-art MOS sensors that reduce the effects of rolling shutter.
  • High sensitivity (F13 at 50i), low noise (60dB) and 1000 line resolution.
  • First AVC-ULTRA camcorder, including AVC-Long G50/25/12/6.
  • Transmission of Proxy content through IP, wireless or wired networks.
  • Two P2 slots and two microP2 slots.

Panasonic’s family of AVC-ULTRA codecs offers high image quality in Full HD, certified by 4:2:2 sampling and 10-bit encoding, allowing you to choose between high or low bit-rates to suit the needs of each application. AVC-LongG is designed for applications where file size is critical, reducing storage costs and transfer times compared to MPEG-2, but with equal or better quality. For its part, AVC-Intra uses intra-frame compression to offer greater robustness in post-production. In addition, it now incorporates 1080/50p recording mode, for the first time in the P2HD range.

For applications that require very high image quality, comparable to recording without compression, AVC-Intra Class200 is available, a mastering and archiving format with a much smaller file size than other industry-specific formats.

The AJ-PX5000G is “future-proof” with a wide range of options including wireless metadata input and high-resolution proxy recording. It has both wireless and wired connection capability, be it Wi-Fi, USB, or Gigabit Ethernet. Certain camera functions can be controlled from a smartphone or tablet. In addition, it will shortly allow the transmission of video over mobile telephone networks, through upload links such as LiveU’s LU40i.

The AJ-PX5000G is the first P2 HD camcorder with built-in slots for Panasonic’s new microP2 cards, which retain the SD card format. The AJ-PX5000G has two microP2 slots and two standard P2 card slots. It also includes an SD card slot for proxy recording or saving user settings.

The camera incorporates the recently awarded Technology Emmy Award-winning Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC) function. The CAC function allows to increase the quality of the lens without making its development more expensive. The Dynamic Range Stretch function improves response in high-contrast scenes, and a flash band detection and compensation algorithm minimizes the effect produced by flash lights. The PX5000G features seven gamma curves and extensive digital imaging settings.

The LCD monitor on the side of the camera allows display of a waveform monitor and vectorscope. It is compatible with the optional studio system, which allows the camera to be configured for studio use, with remote control of imaging functions.

Other features include the Scan Reverse function, which allows you to use a cine lens adapter, a 2x and 4x digital zoom function, variable shutter speed between 1/12 and 1/2000 seconds, as well as Synchro Scan, and a four-position optical ND filter wheel (CLEAR, 1/4 ND, 1/16 ND, 1/64 ND). The camera offers 3G-SDI input and output, HDMI output, genlock input, and timecode input and output. The USB 3.0 HOST port allows you to copy the content of the cards to an external hard drive. As for audio, it has two XLR audio inputs, as well as a compartment for a UniSlot wireless microphone receiver (one or two channels). The PX5000G records four channels of audio at 48kHz and 16 or 24 bits.
