The AKG Model C 5900 is a rugged condenser hypercardioid handheld microphone intended for instrument pickup as well as vocals. Its hypercardioid pattern is uniform in frequency. The response has been optimized at mid and high frequencies for crisp instrumental pickup and improved speech intelligibility. Switchable 6 dB/octave bass roll-off and 12 dB/octave low-cut provide flexibility in proximity effect. The microphone capsule is mounted with an easily removable wire mesh grill. Thanks to the smooth triangular shape of the microphone it is easier to hold than normal circular cross-section designs and is stable when the microphone is placed on a surface.
