The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is the telephoto zoom lens for professional photographers. It uses fluorite to improve image quality, a robust and durable design, and a 4-stop image stabilizer.
High-performance L-series telephoto lens
The L-series is Canon’s flagship professional lens range, representing the best in precision-engineered EF optics. L-series lenses combine superior performance with excellent handling and are resistant to dust and moisture.
Constant f/2.8 maximum aperture
Shoot handheld in low light conditions thanks to a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture, which remains constant throughout the zoom range. Such an aperture also gives a photographer control over depth of field.
Four-stop Image Stabilizer
Canon’s four-stop Image Stabilizer (IS) makes the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM ideal for shooting in low-light conditions when a tripod cannot be used. The IS system allows shutter speeds up to four stops slower than normal to be used without causing blur.
Fluorite and UD lens elements.
The lens features elements made of fluorite, which reduce chromatic aberration. Five UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) elements are used to ensure high contrast and natural color reproduction throughout the entire zoom range.
- Improved durability
- 1.2m minimum centered
- Dust and water resistant
- USM AF Motor Type Ring
A ring-type ultrasonic motor activates autofocus extremely quickly and almost silently. The excellent holding torque ensures that the focus point is precisely reached, without overshooting. Additionally, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without exiting AF mode.
